From 12 November 2005, the Royal Academy of Arts will be hosting a spectacular exhibition devoted to treasures of the Chinese court, drawn mainly from the Palace Museum, Beijing. This landmark exhibition, China: The Three Emperors, 1662—1795, will present some 400 works illustrating the artistic and cultural riches of imperial China during the reign of three of the most powerful emperors of China’s last dynasty: the Qing. A large proportion of these unique objects have never been shown outside China and will be exhibited for five months from November 2005 to April 2006.
China: The Three Emperors, 1662—1795 continues the Royal Academy’s tradition of hosting blockbuster exhibitions devoted to world cultures. The exhibition is curated by Professor Dame Jessica Rawson, Warden of Merton College, Oxford; Alfreda Murck, Adjunct Professor of History, Peking University; Regina Krahl, independent art historian; Hiromi Kinoshita, Somerville College, Oxford; and Cecilia Treves, Exhibitions Curator at the Royal Academy.
